i wanna attempt to feed my L273 shelled mussels. Now I’m coming up with 2 different arguments some ppl are saying to serve it as it is raw simply rinse it off and drop it in and then there are others saying to boil it in water and then rinse it off and then drop it in. I’m wondering which would be the best way to serve this to my picky “guy”. I ve tried raw in the shell today and have the lights off and have placed it in the cave with him. If this doesn’t work I’m goin to remove it do a water change on tank then try again tomorrow with a boiled serving. But I d prefer to know what others are doing and why.

I feed my L14, L185 and L114 raw shrimp, tilapia, silver sides. Haven't tried mussels yet.

Yeh talapia I’m use to serving to my bichirs and that was a no go. He didn’t go for it and my peacocks ended up cleaning it up. I have some large shrimp shelled in the freezer I ll wait till after I ve tried these mussels. I also have scallops so I’m really trynna get him to eat. I’m thinking maybe I should blend it up and mix it into some repashy and stick it on the wall of the cave he likes

Sometimes I thaw the food out in the same cup that I'm thawing blood worms in, that extra "flavor" seems to entice them.

If it's frozen first raw is usually the way you do it.

Update !!!

So the raw mussels in the shell was a hit !!!
Here he is chowing down before I cut the lights out. Just did a water change before the feeding as well and even better news he’s defending it from the peacocks who occasionally stick their heads in the cave. Thank you guys for the help I’m goin to try some shrimp in 2 days.
