So, I've just been told by MFK'ers to avoid live blackworms.

Anyone know why?

What can your fish catch?

How can they catch whatever ails them?

And what meds to use to cure them?

thks all again. :)

blackworms can carry parasites some say there are clean sources of blackworms some say you cant trust them that they are still high risk

I get mine from a reputable source. I also give them 100% fresh water twice a day and rinse them off before feeding. I've never experienced as negative side effects from feeding them.

Well, I fed them twice in past 2days, been rinsing also. I haven't seen any leeches (I can see them right?) but parasites you can see - so even if rinsing that may not be good enough if they have them? I think best I just discard them & not take anymore chances. I sifted thru them but i can't see anything abnormal & water is still clear from last nite's change.

thks all again.

Toooons of people use them with out any problems. I just rinse mine once a day and keep them in the fridge. My fish looove them. Oh and just make sure you get them from a good source. I only buy them the day they come in to my LFS.
