I think both would be fine and DJRansome has the experience and been feeding the NLS Cichlid Formula since 2005 with no issues. I personally don't have Mbuna but know that some species graze on algae.

Normally you don't want mbuna to eat more, LOL.

They do graze on auwfuchs which is algae as well and zooplankton and other tiny animals.

The algae max says it is complete, and if NLS makes it then I would trust it. I am not switching though.

Yeah, I don't have any problems with the amount! They're voracious eaters.

NLS is ok. That amount of protein is acceptable for herbivorres.
