feeding meal worms

I just got my 2 silver aro for around 2 weeks and another one for a day, so when I approach to my aquarium, they just seems like so scared and kind of wanna jump out of the aquarium..luckly I just did a glass cover for it, between this scary problem that they have it, it seems really hard to feed them with meal worms, coz they dun even approach to me..so what can I do??? and the fish shop owner said that, if they keep feeding them for 1 kind of food, they will get used to it, and will reject all other type of food, that's y I wanna feed them with meal worms...but they scare of me LOL
