I just picked up a 13” L24, an absolute beauty of a fish I’ve been waiting to find. I have a mixed diet ready to go but I want to feed some mussel or prawns along with it. I’m just wondering how any of you prepare them or what else you feed your Pseudacanthicus sp.

Tankmates? They are slow feeders. Mine eats shelled raw shrimp so slow mouthing it like she is relishing it and is same size as yours at 13" then lets it go for the tankmates to fight over. She loves her food sticks though. Dives right into it like a hungry dog with a presented kibble bowl.

L240, L200, L27, L114. It would be good for my other Pseudas and Leporas, my other tankmates are Geophagus Pellegrini x4 and one True Parrot Cichlid. My True Parrot doesn’t touch anything frozen or thawed. My Geos aren’t a concern for me. I can also feed them at night. My tank is centered around my L-numbers. Yes, my L24 loves the food sticks as well I get from my importer. Just want to try some more variety! Have a picture of yours?

Most recent one today when i cleaned out my fx6 to rinse the media out. Hence tank being dirty during that shot the pvc 4 connector piece is the sized for 4" pipes opening one

Mines only a 112g (5 foot by 18 for footprint) yours is also amazing. My former full planted tank has had to go plantless due to acquiring her she chopped through the roots like no tomorrow when on the move like a lawmower. Its her decoration handiwork. She changes the scape/sand /wood driections change daily! whenever her mood strikes. Some weeks its 4 inches of sand at one end and bare on other end ? I was going to upgrade to a 250-350g acrylic and get more L24s depending on what I could find but pandemic happened and I lost a trusted roomie to a job transfer out of the area so everything was on hold for any fish money. Just series of things tying up my funds as a homeowner/ pet owner (vet bills) putting a glitch into my plans of an acrylic upgrade. I have other tanks up and running as well though

My super expensive fluval LEDS burnt out a while ago and was using a 20g LED strip as a tempoary lighting as wasnt in a rush to find a 5 foot strip since there was no longer plants in there to keep maintence easier on my end here. And she enjoys the less light. I am going to see if flood lights would be an acceptable substitute with different color options to soften it up a bit. instead of those fancy fish tank strips that seem not to last that long as advertised.

Im not good with DIY (am a female so thats an excuse ive been using) to figure out how to rig /hang those inexpensive spot type of lights up without starting a fire ?‍♀️ as Im drawn to those spotted lighting areas for this type of setup.

I think it looks great for working with what you had! Hahaa my L24 will kick up a cloud of sand from one end of the tank all the way over if he feels like it lol. My canisters have a good amount of sand in them when being cleaned.
