Feeding my Catfish

I have just recently picked up my bullhead catfish some frozen shrimp cubes and he loves them! Before I bought these I just let him eat left over food on the bottom of the tank that my pearl gouramis did not pick up. I was wondering how often I should feed him these cubes. One a day, or less often. He is about 5" long, thanks.

That would depend on how much he is eatting from the bottom you dont want to over feed him but I would say 2 times a week should be good just keep an eye on how much he is eatting

Okay thanks, is there anything else I should be feeding him, or are shrimp and left over fish food a good enough diet for him?

Mine will not eat that often. I will put in food, etc. and some days he will just ignore it. I feed probaly........3-4 times a week if that. My other fish eat daily but he doesn't need the daily feedings.

Try kensfish.com, they have earthworm and other pellets my catfish like. He also likes worms.

You could feed him sinking catfish pellets, shrimp pellets, bloodworms would be good

When I put the cube in and let it dissolve in the net my catfish starts to go crazy because he can smell it. He gets very active during night and searches for food. I can not wait to move him in my 55g tanks.

I have an aisan upside down catfish who is almost never active during the day and thats when he eats mainly so try feeding him before you go to sleep it would be the most likly time for him to eat

When you say mine do you mean you have bullhead catfish to, or do you have another type of catfish. How big are your catfish? And what size tank do you keep them in?

Yep. I have a bullhead.He's like 8 or 9 inches. He's in a 56, with 2 Oscars. The Oscars are recently rescued and they will go in the 125 soon.

I also have a striped raphael catfish in the 125, which comes out at like 2am. I've only seen her out a few times, lol. Do you just have a bullhead? Tank size?
