I currently have a small 2" clown loach in my 55 gallon tank.

In a 5 gallon tank i have, i have a real snail infestation so when i can i'll get one and crush it to feed to my 55 gallon.

I've now seen my clown loach eat two crushed snails, and man does he go crazy for them. he eats them with tons of energy and even flares out these gills under his eyes.

my question is, can I place live snails in the tank for him to eat or is it best to crush them first? I dont want to have a snail infestation in my large tank as well.

Just proceed with throwing as many snails there as you can. On another note, clown loaches are sociable fish. Please do add more with 5 being the minimum.

Snails are the reason that started my clown loach addiction. They will take a care of live snails in no time.

i think ill just add in live oneswhen i can. I dont want to put him in the 5 and eat em all, this way i have a steady snack for him. and i do plan on getting more clown loaches. this one came as a gift for my already fully stocked tank, but once a new one is set up he will have friends!

I collected about 300 malaysian trumpet snails tonight at the store. Free loach food!

No need to crush, unless you are Big Pun.

do it, they love it live or crushed
