Ok so I've been trying to get my firemouths and convicts to come to the surface to eat my floating cichlid pellets that my oscar just devours, but they stay at the bottom and generally don't come out too much. That said, I went to feed some flakes (which I probably already shouldn't be doing) to my tiger barbs and the flakes sunk a little into the water. When they got low enough, the firemouths and convicts came right out to eat the flakes.
For one, I know they shouldn't be eating these flakes. That said, I can't really go out to a LFS to get an alternative for about a week. Is it bad to keep feeding them the flakes? Would sinking cichlid pellets be the right choice for when I do get to a LFS?
