I have never seen this fish eat. I put a few spectrum cichlid pellets in every morning and night and they float there most of the time with no notice from the fish. Tried beef heart, and after an hour or so of him not eating it I took it out. She ignores crickets and live fish (was curious how she would act to feeders). I'm picking up earthworms on my way home from work tonight, but being high fat I wanted to make those more like a treat. She obviously eats some of the pellets when I'm not around but I was expecting something almost similiar to my oscar where its right on your finger tips tryign to get the food. Any other suggestions on what to feed her?

Found when mine's had feeders that he ignores them most of the time but they slowly start to disappear over a few days when i'm not looking. Or in the case of a certain Red Tail Shark he makes friends with it instead.

Do you know what she was fed before you got her?

Ive only had her a couple weeks, and no I picked her up at my LFS who acquired her through a trade. I only toss in around 3-4 pellets and she only eats about 1 or 2 through out the day.

When I first got my pair the male didn't each for at least a week. Now he's a pig. The female has always eaten less. She prefers nightcrawlers, but the males just ignores them. Mine just like the messy jumbo sticks.

Any Jag's I've had when new always seem to be picky and shy eaters but given a month or so they soon start pigging out.

That's been my experience with my current one. I was very worried about him when I first got him, as he wouldn't eat anything. As a last ditch resort, I started feeding him red wigglers. He started reluctantly eating those, then started relishing them. On his own, he started gobbling down the Ken's soft and moist krill pellets I put in for the polys.

My old Jag was shy for the first month I had him. Just give it some more time.
