I just picked up a 2"-3" Jardini last week for $50. I put him in my 55gal to grow out but he almost got chomped by my Payara, so he moved to my planted comm. 29gal. He's eating all my tetras (i don't care) and having a blast is the strong currents...not to mention he eats flakes and frozen brines!! How long until I can get him to 5"-6" so my other fish won't eat him? Is there some really good food for him?
stndfsh:)

pritty soon....maybe a month more likely 2 tho....

jardinis grow slower then other aros. prolly 3-4 months before he is a nice size. ive had my lei for 2-3 months already and it only grew like 2 inches.

hikari pellets really get the fish going. but a mixed diiet of course. feed pellets/shrimp/smelt every feeding with a lil of each to get optimal growth. but dont forget about prestine water.

i do water change every two days and alot of food that **** is eating better then me shrimp and hikari brand BW

shrimps and super worms would be good food for growth, you can also feed him beefheart. should grow quite fast :)

He eats whatever I give him!! I gave him market shrimp...killed it....feeders.. killed them... meal worms....killed them... always fat!! I can't wait for this bad boy to put a few inches on!

Nightcrawlers, these things are like 100% protein, think about it no bones or cartilage to get in the way, and my jar loves them. Even if they sink to the bottom he'll grab em up. also keep water changes once- twice a week to keep that water perfect. That should help him grow at a maximum rate.
