I am having trouble understandind my piranha's eating habits....
He is a 4" black rhom...

I have read that you should feed them more than once a day but it seems like he will only take a little bit of what I feed him.
I attempt to feed him beef heart or filet each day about 3x. two out of the three times he will not touch it, and one time he will grab it, maybe take a few bites but then leave most of it alone.

Am I maybe feeding him too much, or something...each piece is only about the size of a dime, and he doesnt even finish them...

Is he eating enough or is there something i should do to get him to eat more?

How long has it ben in the tank ? I would only feed what it wants to eat .
Some fish are more aggresive than others when it comes to eating .
My schole of reds eat 2 times a day once very light around 1:00 , then they
pig out when I feed them at night . Its just how my fish eat . And your fish will
eat how it eats . :D Do not sweat it , It will save money on feeding .
"O" YA I also have a Black Rome , I just leave one feeder in the tank at a time .
It is the size of a quater . It only eats three fish a week maby fore Large commets

There is no set amount to feed fish, really you should only feed what they want to eat providing they are in good health. It sounds like you are trying to feed him too much anyway for his size.
To encourage feeding, go a day or two without feeding him, dim the lights and i also suggest checking your water stats in the mean time.
How long has he been in the tank?

Well piranhas can take up to 6 months until they are settled. And of course a move always upsets balances. I would just give him time and feed him only what he can comfortably eat. Keep and eye on his 'bulge' and make sure he is not turning skinny. Other than that, i recon it is a patients game.

It's hard to power feed some solitary fish. There is no competition instinct to eat when they are the only fish in a tank.

You may want to try a power head in the tank to increase his activity level.
