So my royal is the first pleco I've actually really put effort into feeding a varied diet. Every other plec I've had I just fed algae wafers every now and then.

Obviously I've got some huge driftwood that acts as food and doubles as cover, but my problem is this; Every time I feed cucumbers, he only eats the center and the rind is left to float around. I stabbed two slices with a fork and put in the tank for him. I think he'd eat most of the cucumber if it was fastened down better.

Any pointers help? How do you feed your pleco stuff that floats?

they make these clips that suction cup to the glass and will hold veggies/whatever put it low enough and i'm sure your pleco will take it.

Two things... One, read the sticky on dietary needs, cucumber isn't that nutritious. Second a varied diet should also include several veggies.

but after he eats the middle out the ring just floats i think he want to eliminate that...unless you skewer them through the rind....or skin whatever.......just an idea

Why is it better to skewer them with a fork?

Cucumber isn't that nutritious? I've got potatoes and sweet potatoes as well, but I haven't tried them yet... and he eats lettuce pretty readily, but mostly I want the food to stay in place so he can get at it.
