My seng is a little over 2 inches now. Would it be safe to feed it small chunks of boneless bluegill fillet? Not sure if he can digest that now. Not sure if there would be any bioaccumulation of toxins in him. Opinions?
Depends on how small and I would wait till he is about 5" or more. Mine is 7" and has trouble with market shrimp so. I would feed him frozen bloodworms as he is still a baby. Then earthworms and beefheart to gain some girth. Try to get him to eat pellets as he is still little could save you so money in the long run.
He's taking omega one shrimp pellets now as the stores near me don't carry hikari sinking carnivore. This 4 oz bottle cost me 4 bucks. At a wholesale price, 4 bucks would get me two pounds of shrimp. The native fillets would not cost me anything as I can catch one every day or two and have fresh food on hand.
The only answer to accumulation of toxins would depend on the water quality where you catch the bluegill. I never had a 2" senegalus (mine were about 3" when I got them), but if you chop/blend the meat to bite sized portions, then they should have no problem eating it. I usually buy frozen market shrimp or fish (mix of cod, salmon, tilapia), cut them to small size, and then defrost/"marinate" them in Zoe multivitamin + garlic.

Where can I find Zoe multivitamin? How do I "marinate" with garlic? I could just get him on market shrimp if natives aren't a good idea, but would need to know what to do to prep the food. Thanks!
