Hey guys i've got 4 yellow perch that have been eating freeze dried shrimp for two months now and meal worms. im a bit worried about their nutrition so im going to soon try getting them on dry food. i was thinking a cichlid type food. i dont have great variety here so ill probably have to order online any suggestions?

omega one is what i have my 4-6 inch bass on now. when they were smaller i had them on color enhance flakes from aqueon which was basicly no problem to convert to. the omega one medium cichlid pellets work fairly well for me. also you can buy a small bag of shrimp at walmart for bout 5 buck tha will last months.

You could try newlife spectrum pellets I've always had good luck getting my natives onto it and it appears to be decent quality

well i picked up some omega one cichlid pellets to give them a try... no luck yet.. they are very stuborn, they eat them but spit them out right after

actually just got them eating bloodworms.. i'd like to have them on pellets ill keep trying though. im a bit worried about sinking pellets cause once they hit the bottum thats it the fish arent interested at all

My green sunfish doesn't eat with the lights on either. He hangs in his cave and gives me the stink eye!

Tried pellets(Massivore and Cichlid Gold-doesn't eat them, completely ignored.
freeze dried krill-used to like when in bigger tank, now ignored
flake-
feeder comets-will terrorize and eat smaller ones during the night
earthworm-will eat, but I try to reserve these for my ravenous bowfin

I'm about to cut him off for a week and grab a fresh bag of Cichlid Gold at the end of the week! It's gonna be a battle of wills I'm thinking...:irked:

i talked to the guy st the lfs. and since a few of us seem to be going through the same issue i talked to him about it. (hes been really helpful in the past) he tried to sell me a 20.00 bottle of garlic extract. he said this makes all of my fish go crazy on pellets. i decined the purchase. went home and took some grlic powder from the pantry and sprinkled it in a paper cup threw my pellets on top and added hot water. wait 15 min and stir on occason. drain water and feed. by th second feeding fish were breaking water when they grabbed pellets. the stuborn bass that refused to eat was occasionally grabbing one and spitting it out and grabbing it again. by the fourth feeding he was eating one or two pellets. cheap and effective. also the guy said if your fish have parasites ounce garlic enters the water they will eventually fall of. dont know for sure but he said it also helps prevent ick. ive also been adding a small amount of paprika because i heard in enhances color. worth a shot ....my fish seem to be doing well on it. ive also noticed a increase in energy aswell. hope this helps
