A couple days ago I started a new 90 gallon with a 3 inch JD and 3 inch severum. I started off with flakes and then i tried one meal worm (our gecko's) - the severum was gobbling up everything but the JD snubbed them both. (The JD is super lively and healthy looking.) Today he did eat brine shrimp and I got some blood worms which I haven't tried yet... My question is, what combination of food and how often? (I think I have the volume down - the 3 minute rule...) I thought 3 times a day but isn't that a lot of brine shrimp?? Lol!

As soon as you can get then on a good pellet staple. There are many brands and that's a few pages of forums over who is better and why. Match pellet size to mouth size. Buy small bags at first, since they will outgrow the pellet.

I raised my fish on Hikari, they seem to be thriving. My not be the best ingredients compared to others. But its a balancing act of price point per availability, will the fish eat it. Do I have to wait a few days to get it by mail...blah blah

I tried to switch to a better good, but Toni refused it so went back to her favorite Hikari Carnisticks

Things like frozen foods(shrimps, worm, ect) should be treats like one time a week. I feed three times a day while the fish are still growing. When full size I will slow down.

How are these pellets? He's still picky though... :/ So funny how the severum happily gobbles up everything!

That should do just fine. I use floating kind normally. It's easier to get out if you over feed with a net.
