Feeding newly introduced fish.

I usually wait about 5 or 6 hours, then I feed lightly. I have had no problems so far..

The faster you can get a fish eating the more comfortable they are in their new surroundings. I usually wait a few hours and feed lightly. Usually the ones who eat faster tend to be healthier .

If this newly introduced fish happens to come at the same time as my feeding schedule, they will be eating in no time. If they missed it, they will need to wait for the next one. But if I am in the mood, I will coerce it to feed immediately. They are fed very sparingly in the LFS that is why I think they are really very hungry before they arrived in my tank. The faster that they feed, the faster that they will adapt into my tank.

I feed when i feed, within 1 min 5 or hours doesnt matter. If the fish eats great! Means its comfortable and healthy. Some species ide be worried if they didnt eat. Ive never seen adverse effect with any method.

I always drop some food in the tank when introducing new fish, not that I want them to eat, but to take existing fish's attention away from the new comer. If the new fish eats, that's a bonus.
