What food supplier do those of you with these swimming garbage can lids use?

I have used both Kensfish and Almost Natural Tropical foods. I know how much better quality the food at Almost Natural Tropical foods is than at Kens, but I can't swing the price for daily feedings. Ken's is less than 1/2 the cost. ($84 vs $36 for a 5 lb bag!)

My guys don't really take cichlid pellets, they really like the discs either the straight spirolinia discs or the omnivore discs.

As my fish are not pushing 18" the sheer quantity of food they eat is overwhelming.

What brands ans suppliers do the rest of you use? I am easily using up a pound a month of wafers, probably more.

Only one really eats the raw fish I toss in there, the other has yet to express any interest. I give them raw fish/ shrimp/krill about once a week.

Carrots, potatoes, broccoli etc...make a mess of the filters and cause ammonia spikes if given very often.

I have tossed in almonds, but didn't get much reaction.

I use some sort of high quality koi food for the bulk of his diet, but it also gets the cichlid pellets as well. I pay $15.00 for a kilo 2.2 Lbs. You are lucky as my one 20" black eats over a kilo a month alone with once a day feeding, close to a cup a day.
Good luck

Wow... a kilo a month!

What brand of koi food?

i had a pacu several years ago. as he grew, he became more carnivorous and less of a herbivore. he ate tilapia and krill.

i give mine shrimp, and tillapia....it get veggies atleast 2 times a week and it LOVES grapes...it also eats hikari food sticks and hikari cichlid gold...
