No, not a good idea. I feed my young aros 4 times a day!! It's one of the fastest growing fish, and they need a steady supply of food to develop.
After your aro is 24" or so you can skip a day between feeding with no harm.

Try switching to tilapia for the main staple of your aros diet. I cut it up to small little cubes, about 1/8" or smaller, feed just enough to see a small bulge in the aros belly.
Super worms and the like are a good treat, but not the best food for exclusive feeding. A varied diet is best, see what your aro will accept.

Don't feed Chicken to the Arowana.
I like to vary my aro's diet but i keep pellets as the main staple diet. My line of thought is that quality pellets should have all the nutrients needed whereas tilapia or superworms might lack some. Some people even stuff pellets into market shrimp because of that.
I also feed once a day but some days the aro itself doesn't eat much. Other days he'll let me know he's hungry by swimming with a leaf in his mouth.
Then again, i've been only keeping an arowana for a few months ?
