So i just recently picked up two plecos and placed them in a tank with a rtc, a tsn, and a jag. Now although the three of them are still small, they are savages who eat anything in site!! How should i feed the two poor plecos?

And if it was a stupid decision to put these two plecos in the tank with the others than please say so. I just saw the same set up at the fish store and thought i could do it too. hehe.:naughty:

try sticking a cucumber with a veggy clip or suction up, up high that way the catfish might be less likely to go eat it, thats what i do with my plecos

My first guess would be to feed them in the dark, but since never having a RTC I can only guess that he may be active a night also. Do RTC's eat veggies?

1st of all: how big is the tank?
2nd: avoid cucumber, it has little or no nutritional value. Stick to squash, bell peppers, sweet potatoe and everything in the pleco nutrition sticky.
3rd: if you plan on keeping the pleco's with the RTC longterm I wouldn't worry to much about what to feed them, shouldn't be an issue for long unless your pleco's are already 18"+. RTC's are like vaccums, anything that can almost be eaten WILL be eaten
4th: pics? As impractical as RTC's are for home aquaria, I Love the little guys. Plus pleco's are my one fish weakness. So I would love to see pics of your setup

1: well right now the three of them are just chillin in my 55 cause they are still small, and i do have a MUCH bigger tank for the rtc when the time comes.
2: thanks i'll look into that but how would i feed it to them? by hand? cause if i just drop even veggies in, its gone in seconds.
4: i'll try to put pics up soon!! I love them too! This is my third one and i just love raising them. Theyre such an interesting bunch of catfish. :)

If possible, you could move the aquarium to a spot where it gets a lot of natural sunlight, therefore, algae grows. The algae feeds the plecos. Or you can always try algae wafers, they worked great for my 12" common pleco. Most LFS have these.

What kind of plecos? many different kinds with many diffferent dietary needs.

This question is one of the most important things ive learned to think about before i choose stocking. Making sure carnivorous plecos get enough food is always a challenge with carnivorous tankmates, but it can be tricky with vegetarians too. i feed all my plecos at night which helps.......
