Feeding Polys Mice

how big is your poly? i haven't tried it cuz all i have are senegals but i've seen my piranha munch a mice i caught at home. it would surely be fun to watch a poly swallow a mice.
LOL *mouse* lol. id be to scared to, if mice can chew up snakes than imagine what it could do to some soft fish flesh. id say try some frogs for some added excitement.
I wouldn't do a large adult mouse because of the biting and if u stunned it it probably wouldn't be tht fun..but probably more humane..but u could definately feed it pinkie mice..I've done tht before..and its less messy..also fun to watch them eat is tadpoles..
you could do that but I siggest you relly starve the bichir first o that it would be really agressive and pounce on the mouse as soon as it hits the water, you wouldnt want a mouse climbing up your filter hoses..
A cpl of points to ponder about feeding live mice
A)theres a chance the live mouse could bite and kill the bichir
B)The bite force of a bichir is so low it would basicly swallow the mouse while it was still alive.
Theres 2 points to ponder plus its cruel to the mouse
theocassional pinkie as a treat should do little or no harm tho.However if you should toss a live mouse into the tank and the plan goes wrong I will be among the first to say I told you so as you whine how the stupid mouse killed your beloved bichir-Anne

I think fish do the same trick as a croc drowning their prey making sure their dead before they swallow...I noticed that when we feed my friends aro with pinkies, we even fed it a small bat which we caught the bat had a broken wing though and this was a hungry aro, it just put it in its mouth and we watched until the mouse as no longer breathing and your right anne it would need a tremendous bite just to hold it and drown a pinkie...
I guess i won't be seeing a ratus ratus or a mus muscus mice get gourmandized by a bichir... i live i the philippines and since it's a tropical country we have alot of mice at home. come to think of it, rats are very hady animals so they could live in alot kinds of environments....
