I picked up some frozen Hikari rotifers the other day for my Midas fry, and on the back of the package it says "Never use thawed or refrozen food as serious illness or death can result." I was just wondering if there is actually a reason for this, or if it is just a gimmick to get you to use their product faster? I have never noticed this label on any other frozen foods, and I have fed frozen foods to my fish that have been thawed for a day or so (kept in the fridge, obviously if I just left the stuff sitting out in room temperature, it would spoil) and never noticed any ill effects. Thanks for any info you can give me!

I would imagine they're talking about thawing it out, leaving it sit, and then freezing it again. It could spoil in the time that it thaws out, before it is frozen again.

Basically any food that is frozen > thawed > frozen again doesn't taste the best. Kind of the same with beer that is cold > warm > cold again, doesn't taste the same.
