Hi guys...I'm having a major problem with my 8 month old Red Albino Oscar "Rosie"....about 4 months ago...while I was cleaning her tank...the light slipped and fell into the tank...no harm was done...but it totally freaked her out and she completely stopped eating and just sat in the bottom corner moping...up to that point she loved to eat pellets, krill, and fresh shrimp pieces and the occasional feeder fish...up to that point she was (and still is) very healthy and active...the only problem is that the only thing she will eat now are the feeders (for the last 2 months)....she absolutely refuses to eat ANYTHING else....she is in a 75 gallon tank by herself...all water parameters and temps are perfect..I've tried the stop feeding her route and that didn't work at all...she will just starve herself to death (as she almost did for the first 2 months of this fiasco...I'm getting real worried cause I'm getting 2 conflicting reports on this....1)...everywhere I read on the net says that just feeding her feeder fish will cause her malnutrition and she will die...BUT...the guy at my LPS says that she will be just fine and not to worry....please help me...I'm getting more worried everyday and I'm at a lose at what to do !!! Thanks for any and all help.

Has it improved yet?

Have you tried frozen larvae? Crickets? Other types of meat?
That it changed just like that just for the light to slip into the tank is strange. Did it hit her?

Was she social towards you before? If so is she still?
She mightve thought you attacked her and she now considers you as dangerous?

She was so social before it was crazy...then for those 2 months...nuthin'...now she's right back to the way she was before (even more !!!)...she is like the best dog I ever had...we come up to the side of the tank...and scratch the side of the tank..and she lays again the side like we are really scratching her...the best fish I ever had !!! I love her dearly...that's why I'm so concerned.

Raise Blaptica dubia roaches and mealworms and feed THEM with highly nutritious fish food, and then when you feed them to your oscar it'll be nutritionally balanced and not as fatty as goldfish are.

Glad shes acting normal again =)
Ever concidered internal parasites of some kind? They can cause the fish to loose its appetite.

Try feeding them oxhearts? A meateating fish that says no to that...well, its rare, and worth a shot?

Another update on Rosie...she still only eats goldfish feeders...plus I give her a vitamin supliment once a week (vita-chem)/..she is healthy as heck...and is about 10 inches now.
