Hi everybody (sorry my english is not very good)

My ocellaris do not eat like I want. For three weeks, I try to starve him to convert him on shrimp but it doesnt work. Last week, I gave him small goldfish. Tuesday, I gave him big goldfish and eat two of them. The day after, he dont eat the one I gave him and not thursday. So, I bought middle goldfish and he dont eat friday. The saturday morning (today), he eat one middle goldfish and doesnt want a second. This goldfish is still swimming since two hours. My peacock is about 7-8 inches.

After the three weeks, he eat very fast. Now, he seems lazy. He chases the second this morning very slowly and stop when he saw that the goldfish escape.

Here is a pic, he dont seem full belly.

Is normal for a peacock bass?

Thanks

That is not normal. Pbass have a massive appetite and should eat a lot more. How are you're water conditions? What is the temp of you're water?

Any tankmates?

Its hard to say why he isnt eating as much. He could have over eaten on the large goldfish. The ones I had would eat alot sometimes then other times not so much. I had a problem getting mine off feeders too. I ended up tricking mine, since they usually grab food fast i took freeze dried krill and stood back from the tank. Threw one piece in and one grabbed it and tried it then it was a wrap all the others joined in after a week of doing it that way they started to eat it normally. If you feed larger meals i would try to feed every other day and see if that helps. Cause think about it in the wild most predators dont catch meals daily so no reason they need it at home. Good luck with your bass hope this will provide some help to you.

thanks! yes, I agree that no reason to eat every day! Hard to convert because other tank mates are not very fast to catch feeders...or showing no interest. They prefer shrimps because its easy to catch

Ok, how big is a medium gold fish compared to a large gold fish? One large gold fish can fill him up for a day or two. Two medium gold fish could feed him for a day or two. Keep the gold fish size consistent to know his eating habits.

I can almost guess why he not eating from you stock list. Central american and jardini make horrible tankmates for pbass. I have found if they are.stressed.they will not eat much. You only.have a matter of time befor the jardini goes on killing spree. Thats why the jar i have is housed alone. My best advice would be species tank for pbass. Just because you dont see them mess.with him doesnt mean they dont whey you are not looking. Even if they just chase him around he may not eat.
