I received my wild orinoco oscar yesterday from UPS, its 5 to 6 inches...anyways its very scared, shy of course but I attempted to feed about 5 pellets today, NLS medium sinking....well they don't sink...they go right into my overflow box into my sump....I bought sinking to avoid this...so much for that, so what's up with NLS not sinking...

Try presoaking the pellets in a dish, if they don't sink, try squishing them once they are sodden. They should sink pretty fast then.

I've probably fed 50+ lb's of the 2mm NLS since it came out a few years back, all of it sinks for me. How fast it sinks will depend a lot on the amount of circulation in your tank.

Instead of presoaking it, try tossing it down into your tank with a bit of force. Once it breaks the surface it will go down, not up. :)

Thanks all and yeah wow I had no idea 2mm was so small..my oscar ain't even that big and his mouth could fit a 100 in there I bet lmao

You may not want to do any of this, but I put another fish with my new O for a day to help him relax, watched closely & after he ate a couple pellets, then removed that fish.
He eats floating pellets, rarely interested if they're on the bottom. Seeing them move across the top triggers his desire to go after them.
Red wigglers sink, kick started his appetite, & are helping overcome his shyness.
He's maybe 4 inches long. I cut worms to about 1+ inch pieces, they still wiggle under water.
After he eats a few pellets, I drop in worms so he'll see me as the food source.
