i have a 9" male fen that i have had for almost a month and have yet to see him eat. I was told he ate pellets but in my tank has yet to show any interest in pellets sinking or floating. can i get some advice on to what he may take interest in just to get something into his stomache? and what to try as a staple?

being as though he is a larger fen it may take sometime for him to adjust and start eating,i bought a large pair awhile back,it took almost 2 months for the male to eating(but once he did ,he was a beast)the female never ate heavy the whole time i had her,but the breed for me several times, and i never saw any ill affects from them going a little while without eating.
just keep trying pellets every day,but dont worry if he is healthy he will eventually start eating, just takes time.

yea ive heard that about most fish. i just dont want him to get a sunk stomache and also would like to fatten him up. Hes the dominant fish in the tank so i thought it would be a little different.

Other than pellets any one advize any other foods?

I have two of these guys right now. Both are still little at 3" but are active and do not seem to fear their tankmates including my 10" Midas. Mine eat Omega one pellets and freeze dried tubifex worms. I also feed earthworms which they love. You might want to try worms on your fish and see if that perks him up.

They do like their veggies. Wouldn't hurt to see if he'll graze on some lettuce.
I havent tried this before but its also a good possibility. Even my Midas at times will gobble up algae wafers. :screwy:

yea i can definately give worms and lettuce a try. thanks for the advice

mine liked romaine lettuce more than regular lettuce, also try peas(not to many acts like a laxative)

I agree. I have two five in Zonatum who have been on lettuce for about four months now. Lettuce is a good way to start with most CAs.
