Hey my Jack Dempsey won't eat the hikari pellets any more he just doesn't even take them and if he does he spits them out. Is it an issue if he only eats bloodworms because he eats that like crazy. my silver dollars won't take anything but bloodworms too, occasionally a pellet. Any solutions or is this not a bad thing.

Personally I feed different brands of pellet, possibly Dempsey may be bored of eating same pellet . My SD's eat pellets flake food, and algae wafer .:)

Starve him until he takes pellets. It could take 2 days or 2 weeks, but it will be worth it. I had a stubborn flowerhorn that wanted only bloodworms, but after 10-12 days started eating pellets. A quality pellet (like Hikari) provides so much more nutrition than bloodworms.

You might just be feeding frozen too often, and he's getting picky. Cut frozen feeding down to 1-3 times a week, but get him on pellets first.

I have a rotkiel severum that just one day decided it wasn't eating pellets any more.......and for 3 months, it didn't. The only thing it ate during that period was bloodworms. So, during this period I would feed the tank bloodworms once a week. Then one day, the rotkiel just like that decided it would eat pellets again and been fine ever since.
