Hi thanks for reading. I would greatly appreciate any feedback. My Flowerhorn is around 3.25" and has a ferocious appetite. I currently give it Hikari Bio-Gold+ mini pellets and they're around 3mm in size. I'm feeding it 2 times a day, 12 in the morning and 12 before bed, and fasting 1 day a week. It can probably eat 3x that amount and I feel guilty that I'm starving the little guy. It's a mega short body, practically a bonsai, so it's hard to discern it's tummy bulge. Do you all think I'm feeding it enough? I just fed him and it's acting like it hasn't eaten, swimming all around like a hungry shark and dancing every time it sees me move. I feel bad like I'm neglecting it and would love to hear any feedback. Thanks!

I think if you feed him 4x more than he should be fed then he will stop acting hungry. This is how fish are, I used to feed mine 5-6 times in very small quantites. As long as you watch quantity/time you are not starving him.

So 24 pellets per feeding, twice a day?

I’m gathering your feeding your fish 12 pellets total for the day? Just continue with your feeding regimen and monitor your fish, getting fat cut back, not growing or getting skinny add more food (slowly) and continue to monitor your fish.

every fish is different for food requirements as some fish burn more calories swimming and being active, some just plain don’t require as many as another fish.

As long as your fish is eating daily I can guarantee it’s not starving haha. If you want to see more growth you can feed more and do more water changes.

Lol, no. Sorry for being confusing. My point was that if you feed the fish 4 times 'the food he should be fed' (right amount of food he needs) then your fish will stop acting hungry.

Thanks for the replies.
Right now it's getting 12 mini pellets in the morning, and 12 in the evening. I'm just wondering if that's a good amount for a 3" fh.

First good unit would be to time his meal, he should finish food within minute. Next would be to observe his tummy, does it look sunken or bloated.

It's a mega short body, practically a bonsai. It's body is 1x1.25 ratio.
Very difficult for me to judge it's tummy size.
I'll just continue his current feeding regimen.
He could easily eat 24 mini pellets within 2 minutes. To me that sounds like way too much.

That should be for his whole day. Split it across the day.
