I know that tropheus like to graze on algae, but I have some plants that I was wondering if ya"ll could tell me if it would be a godd idea or not to feed them. I have an abundance of Cabomba caroliniana and Ceratophyllum submersum and was wondering if I could feed this in place of growing algae or maybe as a treat?

Hornworts are a bit prickly. Not many fish would eat them. Cabomba will work though for most vegetarians. Too soft. You can produce duckweeds although duckweeds are high in sugar so I'd use it moderately.

Mine chew on the valisinaria a bit.Not enough to kill it though. The gobble up any duckweed I put in.

Cucumber, zucchini, spinach (messy though), squash, carrots and collards. There are also kale, Moringa olifera and seaweeds to look up. These ones are quite nutritious. Forget the broccolis and asparagus as they seem gassy.

I thought about the zucchini because that is what I used to feed my other cichlids. How often should I feed them the veggies? Once a week for a treat maybe? Or maybe like you do with saltwater and get a clamp that sticks to the glass and put some kelp or whatever on there and change as needed?
