OK I have (3) 2-3" Orinos and am very new to the PBass scene. I have been feeding them Guppies and Tubiflex Worms my question is how much is enough and how much is to much? Also should I buy minnows from PetSmart or are they bad? I will probably feed in morning and at night.

Thanks

live feeder's are bad..IMO... feed them just Tubiflex Worms in till you can feed them pellets, shrimp.

they are still small i would say feed them live for a little for a little while till they gain another inch or so.. feeders are bad but also good, do you think every fish they eat in the wild are healthy?! i highly though that since most fish eaten are the slowest ones... anyways what is your water temp? keep you tank at the lowest of 87 degrees and parasite can not host so you won't have to worry about anything. you should then be fine, i never had a problems. minnows, tubilex, black worms, the more variety the better.
as for how much you should feed them, people stuff their cichla, i disagree with this... feed them 2 or so small/medium sized meals a day and do lot of water changes, it is deff healthier for the fish. when ever i stuff my fish one always gets sick.

If your cichla are taking the tubifex worms with no issues, then cut out the feeders.. but its up to you, somecichla keepers feed feeders until they get good growth, probably right till their around the 6-7inch mark. then you can stick with the worms or pellets and do 3 small feedings a day to get the best growth, feed only as much as they can consume in a matter of mins..

i feed 2x a day. and just until i start to see their bellys round out a bit! cause if i go by minutes, my tems eat anything that hits the water in a matter of seconds!!! lol makes it alittle hard to see my mono get a round belly...lol

continue with feeders for a while IMO unless you want to take the risk of getting them off live right now.
ive done it,but ive heard orinos can be harder to get off live?
