i bought a full african cichlid setup recently so the combination of fish is not my choice but they are all doing really well, i have been feeding them spirulina sticks and tropical flake for 2 weeks, now i need to stock up on food i am looking for advice on what foods to buy, i know i have omnivores, herbivores and carnivores, i am willing to buy a mix of foods to suit the fishes needs but i want to be sure buy the right foods for my fishes differerent diet needs, to be honest the only fish not getting enough food is the frontosa it just gets the bits of sinking flake, the rest have all
been feeding on the flakes and spirulina sticks very well, i assume i will need a sinking food for the frontosa?

is the hikari excel food a good choice, i think the hikari range is better value when you have greedy cichlids

8 yellow labs Omnivore
4 red zebras Omnivore
3 auratus Omnivore
2 crabro Omnivore
1 frontosa Carnivore
1 livingstoni female Carnivore
1_venustus male Carnivore
3_Ob_zebra Herbivore
2 Albino Trewavasae Herbivore

Personally I use NLS (New Life Spectrum) or Xtreme Fish Food. I don't use flakes except for fry, and then I give occasionally a little treat (veggies or brine shrimp) if I feel like watching.

yeah i dont use flakes on africans. i agree with everyone else :) with a few treats here and there for the carnivores.

You can buy it online and have it shipped. Much cheaper that way.

looks like i will need to try the NFS food, i have seen it for sale on ebay uk so ill get some in to try i sure hope my fish appreciate it :)

what food should i try for the frontosa i need something thats sinks

well my NLS food arrived and guess who bought the 1mm stuff and its a bit small, im sure the fish will still eat it all though :)

after reading the pack it tells me it feeds omnivores, carnivores and herbivores so its ideal for all my fish
