I was at Von's today, and they were selling frozen crawdads big red ones. Would that be a good food to feed him?

Just put them in a quarintine if youd like to make sure they are healthy for your rtc. But that should be fine
I have fed a few frozen ones but live is much more fun to watch. I feed shrimp everyday that are frozen not much of a difference.
Crusteceans are a big part of RTC diet in the wild. So, yes, frozen-thawed is fine. But do not make it a staple, always give other foods and more of them than say shrimp, which is high in thiaminase: http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Thiaminase
LOL IV feed My redtail shrimp since she was 1". I will switch every other month to tilapia or swai.

Catfish pellets (not necessarily the most expensive but not aways the least expensive; mixing them is good) plus pieces of fish/whole fish, frozen-thawed. I used to buy 25 lbs of marine fish called spot for $15-$20 from a small local food fish shop. Mix different pellets and different aquatic/sea foods in every now and then.
