Just wondering, what are you guys feeding your queens. I just picked up an awesome nine inch rose queen the other day. The previous owner was feeding her live blood worms. I am trying hikari pellets and jumbo min. She has not started eating yet, but I am not too worried about it.

I have one RQ a little smaller and have another at 11" at the LFS in quarantine. Check out the 15" one in a thread below on Biggest Rose Queen. Mine loves bloodworms and also will eat flakes (primarily Spirulina) and pellets (Spectrum and Hai Feng). Also will eat ghost shrimp. I love the breed. Does yours look like it has been dyed--it is pretty common evidently.

I never feed "live blood worms"
Only feed frozen blood worms

I haven't had an issue with filling up but maybe you need to pace yourself on the quantity. A little goes a long way with all that protein. FD krill is excellent as well. It's sort of hard to get it to sink however.

Sorry about the blood worm mix up. My rq is defianltly not died. Once I put her in my tank she colored up amazingly. I bought her from FISH ROOM PLUS, she is trully a great looking fish. Does anyone know how to sex them?

Mine ate Color Bits, algae wafers, frozen bloodworms and floating pellets. They got pretty big at around 12 inches for the male and 8 inches for the female.

Other than seeing the breeding tubes come down, I don't know how to sex them. The pointed dorsal deal for SA/CA is really pretty weak in my opinion. How about that 15" shown under Biggest Rose Queen below......pretty amazing FW fish I think.
