i got my first gibby the other week and have been tryin to feed him cucumber, problem is i think my cichlids i have in my tank are getting to it first, anyone got any special tricks they have to feed the plec and keep the bigger fish away?

Just put enough in for everyone. It's also very good for your cichlids. What I do is stick two 1" slices onto a fork so that they sink to the bottom. The pleco will eventually get some even if it's not right away. Remember, plecos are mostly nocturnal so he'll probably do more eating when you're alseep..

:iagree:
Don't think I could have said it better, especially the part about feeding at night. Put some goods in for the pleco before you go to bed and remove remains when you get up.

Dont be afraid to give your sailfin some sinking cichlid pellet either. They like high protein diets although they do get long messy poo. Feed in same location at same time each night and it will soon be there waiting for you. Most fish are creatures of habbit and enjoy set routines.

When it gets much bigger, it will just push those small troublesome cichlid pests out of its way :)

U CAN ALSO GIVE SLIDE CUCUMBERS

Cucumber is ok, but there nutritional content is almost as bad as iceburg lettuce...

briefly boil the zuc with a clove of crushed garlic this gets most of my plecs in a feeding frenzy
