I have a pair of golden severum's which i want to condition to breed,
was wondering if i can feed them on live shrimps twice a day till their gut is full,
any suggestions,
currently feeding them on Hikari Cichlid Bio gold twice a day.
is feeding live shrimps on a daily basis OK?

I wouldn't feed them shrimp on a daily basis. If you are trying to condition them for breeding, I would suggest feeding them live food 2 or 3 times a week. Also feed them the live food on days you would do water changes, and make your replacement water cooler than the water you took out.

i would reccommend

adding indian almond leaves
raising the temp to 84
for 2 weeks, dont do any w/c's, and feed heavily with both live food and pellets, then after 2 weeks, do a 40% water change with cool water, dropping the temp to like 80+/-
and see what happens :)

thanks for ur reply people,

@Devder
will give it a try

on terms of live food i can offer them only live shrimps and live tubifex,
will this do or should i add any other live food,
my severums dont eat BHM nor any feeders

thats fine just not everyday as severums aren't meant to be carnivores/piscivores do big cooler water change like stated and see what happens, and you can feed them live insects like crickets and stuff as well but its not necessary, not feeder fish from the store though

thanks guys,
will keep this thread updated with the proceeds
