I just got a couple of small nandus nandus from Fish Room Plus, about 1"-1 1/2". So far they have been picking at bloodworms, but does anyone know of anything else to feed them when they're that small?

brine shrimp, plankton, I would say small meaty food...

good to hear you got some did you ever find datnoids ? if i remember right that one store didn't order them for you bummer but nandus are great fish to VERY slow growers but still good

every thing i've heard about them is its pretty hard to get them off of live food but since you got them small you've got a good chance

with picky eater like these i've had luck with
Krill
shrimp
fish fillets really just small stripes of them
and i've heard of people getting them to eat worms like night crawlers

If you can find red wigglers (walmart has them sold as panfish and trout worms) try some of them if you keep them cold then cut them into pieces they and toss them into the tank they wiggle and squirm alot which may draw there attention

Also try losely tieing fishing line to a piece of krill or fish and move it back and forth in the tank don't slow down when it looks like there about to take it or they will hold back you wan't it to look natural think what would a little fish do thats about to be eaten make sure to tie it to the very end they like too totally engulf there food or at least try so you wan't the string to pull away eazy which can be hard if its tied enough to move the food around but i would give it a shot

very hard to get off live...
but some people i know find it very easy.
basically feed anything thats the right size and moves.

Thanks guys, they've been eating bloodworms. This morning, they actually came up near my hand with the other fish when I was feeding them. I'm basically just looking for a variety of things, which seems a little difficult since they're so small.

I use pretty much everything that's already been listed...but my guys show interest in beef heart too. I would just limit the frequency of feeding beefheart to "occasional treat" because it can cause some problems if it becomes a staple.

also try to build there trust and you may be able to hand feed them the hardist thing is to get them to try new foods they will usually except most foods once they try to eat them
