Hi I am going to be getting some small reticulated rays (around 3 inches) and was wondering what to feed them that wont pollute the water to much and wont be to expensive. Does anyone have any ideas? Like pellets or something? Thanks

Chances are you're going to have to feed live blackworms for a while. You may be able to get it to take frozen bloodworms and frozen mysis shrimp, but you can never tell until you get the fish. Retics are notoriously picky. Try to stay away from freeze dried because it wont sink as well and it will be harder for the ray to get to.

Rays that young will likely only accept black worms.. It might take some time in captivity for them to get used to pellets.

My juvie retics are only eatting live blackworms, red wigglers, and chopped earthworms.. I -think- they are eating HBH supersoft pellets mixed w/ their blackworms, but are refusing shrimp, mussels, and other dead foods.

They have tiny mouths, being one of the smallest species of rays.. This makes it hard for them to take larger chunkier foods. They are also VERY juvenile, so starving them into accepting other foods isn't an option until they grow out a little bit..
