I recently bought a Satanoperca Leucosticta and he isnt liking the Hikari cichlid gold pellets that i feed him much. Hes really skinny and only eating 3-4 pellets two-three times a day. I know he should eat alot more than this for his size(around 5-6 inches).

I was thinking of feeding him some squid i have downstairs, as the owner of the fish store i bought him from used to feed him silversides.

Has anyone on here fed squid to any type of cichlids? And if so, how do they like it?

my sister's ex gave me a whole bunch of frozen squid blocks, that I occasionally feed to my parrot cichlids, and they always eat them w/out hassle, but then again, they eat anything w/out hassle.

On the other hand, none of my bichirs or african cichlids like that stuff.

I feed it to my fish also, not a lot, but sometimes.. they always go for the pellets or bloodworms first.. squid kinda lingers around a little before getting eaten...

I use it to feed my anemone and if I have any extra ill give it to my cichlid. I'd have to double check but I don't think it has much nutritional value.
