I know that you higher ups are gonna be like "this fool doomed" but so I just got a very nice royal pleco and was wondering what would be the best foods to feed other than waffers. I did notice that most info said that it needed some driftwood...got that. I did tie some lettuce onto a rock and was wondering if the "orange slice" would be belificial. And how do you get the food down to their level? Can I use fishing weights? I have some twist on fishing weights. Thanks

Weights are fine. You can try fork or spoon to weigh the veggies down.

I think you'd be fine with sinker, but the fork will probably keep your tank a little cleaner.

For foods I would try blanched romain lettace, cucumber, zucchini, squash, peas etc. He probably won't bother with orange slices. I always used a rubber band and attached them to a rock but a fork or weight will work as well. Good luck with him, they're beautiful fish.

Great thanks so much! This is why I love this place! Yeah I had got what I thought was a sweet deal so I had to pick him up. Never thought of the fork, thats a great idea! And I'm assuming the fork is gonna be the only way to get peas to him huh?

I was wondering the same thing about weighing the food. ... seems problematic though ... but will try this method until i find a better way.

BTW, my new L600 eats prawn so far ... lots of prawn

I use frozen peas. I will let them thaw in warm water, then pop the "meat" of the pea out of the "skin". They sink right to the bottom. Peas and zuchinni are my royals favorite. It took several attempts to get him to eat lettuce.
