Feeder Fish
HI all this is my very first post....any I'm concerned for my shark! He hatched the day before yesterday and I still cant get him to eat....I have tried krill and silver sides with and without flavor enhancers. He doesnt move around alot yet which I'm told is normal...But he wont eat...We have used a feeding stick then tried to feed by hand...tried at night and during the day....Is there a trick to this? What else can I try?

Thanks for the advice!!! I have had him for 6 months and meticulously kept the water perfect and watched him grow....I even purchased a custom 250 gal tank for him! We have a small ray in there to right now. again thank you for your advice:grinno:

did you ask this on YA?

yeah they'll take a while to eat, just wait till alcohologist, zoodiver, and others get a chance to answer you'll get some great advise

Welcome! I see you are from San Clemente. Nice area!

Have patience. You've got a while before you would need to worry.

I would love to see some pics of the little guy!

Sweet!! You guys are the best! yes I did post this question on yahoo answers....thank you for the referral to this site! I have found a lot of great information...and such nice people. I am so thankful for the replies....I was really worried, but now I'll put off the worrying! thanks again guys...and Ill post pics of my shark and ray soon!

as others have said, newly hatched pups may take up to a week, maybe more till they accept food. i wait about five days then offer a small scrap of smelt or squid a day, after i turn off the lights.
great to hear you've planned out and are taking good care of your shark, a ray would be a good tankmate for him, and that 250 will be a good home for a long while. can't wait for the pics

Your pup will likely not start to eat until it has absorbed the remainder of its yoke. I would suggest trying as many different sources of food as possible such as fish, octopus, squid, shell fish, shrimp and even earthworms. If you are still having trouble getting it to eat, fresh garlic rubbed on the food can often induce feeding.

BTW welcome back Crumbs.. been a while :D
