do they grow, lol I bought 3 2-4 in ones from petsmart and have been trying to feed them everything, I hardly see them, they are in my grow out with my Dempsey. He doesn't bother them but any tips on what to feed them to "power" grow them or something.

They are not known for fast growth. Perhaps from 3" to 6" in 1-2 years.

If you never see them, that's not normal. They have to come out, rarely, maybe very rarely but they should. If they don't, they are likely stressed - water parameters, lighting, cover, bullying, illness, etc. all play a role.

They are not fussy at all. Once settled in a tank, they will take almost any foods. If they never come out during the day time and/or feeding times, then turn the light off and leave the food for the night. If not eaten, remove in the morning but they should take to it much rather sooner than later.

that long, jeez I gotta find me some 8 in, lol was gonna try to put them in my big tank in a year, guess that wont happen lol

Only thing that grows slower than these is my Orange Head Geos... Horribly slow growth. And what was said above is correct: rarely see them. Mine went from 2 to 5 inches in about a year.

They are the kind of fish that are often returned to LFSs at 6"-8" size, mostly because people buy them not knowing much about them and they grow slowly in their community tanks and start eating smaller tank mates etc. and/or outgrow their tanks. I see them often as trade-ins/returns. Just keep an eye out for those or call your LFSs every now and then and ask if they got one. I never saw them priced more than $10-$15 on the East coast.
