I've two bristlenose pleco and i am struggling to introduce blood worms to them. I've tried putting them into a smaller container so that they cant avoid the bloodworms, ive tried putting in a larger ammount into the 10g tank (they are aprox 2'' in size each) so that it sinks and hope they'd find it alone but neither attempts have worked.

Does anybody have suggestions?

Taking them out of their tank and putting them into another container will probably stress them out to a point where they wont eat anything until they settle down

I agree with Dudey. Their refusal to eat has something to do with stress from being moved. Be patient with them. It takes time for them to be encouraged to eat.

keep the water clean and between 78 and 80 degrees. leave them alone for a day or 2 and they should be hungry enough to eat. i got a new royal pleco that's about 2 inches and it didn't eat for the first 2 days but now it's eating normally.

They eat cucumber and other vege's readily, but im trying to introduce a form of meat in their diet.. Yeah i understand that moving them would cause them to lose interest in eating - i simply have no clue how to get them to eat bloodworms (perhaps someone can suggest a different meat source that they would take to) as i cant just leave worms in the tank at the bottom in the gravel because its going to rot there :/ - as it did the first time i tried that :p

It took my Bristlenose months to get used to his 55 gal and even venture out during the daytime. Trying feeding at night after lights out but keep in mind they're not the type of fish that's going to shoot over to the food and start gobbling it down. They're going to wait until it dark and still before they eat. By then the other fish will have finished off the bloodworms (if there's other fish in there).

Maybe - they do venture out in the day, they seem completely at ease. I have gravel atm and i think i might need to have that removed before attempting to get bloodworms to them - the worms just wiggle away between the gravel >:[

Don't know as I've never kept BN before but if they're eating the veggies, that should be fine right? Or do they really need bloodworms in their diets?

Heard they make good algae cleaners when small but than again most plecos are like that:ROFL:

Right, they do a great job of cleaning up the algae :]

But i think its in their best interests to get the protein live foods are bringing *_*
