I have a 4" clown knife and have an issue of feeding him. He's in my 150g with severums, tinfoil barbs and parrots each around 6" long. The other fish gobble up the food before the clown knife gets a chance to eat. What's the best way to insure the clown knife gets enough food?

give the ck a hiding spot like a fake log and put the food in there. what do you feed him? you can also try using a tube and drop the food infront of him. ill give you ck a month or 2 and itll be a beast and fight for food.

I've noticed mine has problems noticing the food unless its right in front of his face.

I also have a striped KF, which I have to feed by hand to make sure he gets any food.

Also, what do you feed him? Mine wont eat pellets, only bloodworm, odd enough, he loves algae wafers.

Try thawing some blood worms and use something like a turkey baster to drop the worms right in front of the the area where the knife is. Or take an entire cube of bloodworms and partially bury them in the substrate right in front of the knife as well. Even try feeding it at night since they're supposed to be nocturnal (and the other fish will be asleep too). Good luck!

Try feeding in the late afternoon. This is when he'll be roaming and stalking everyone :D

If this dosen't work use a turkey baster and shoot the food at him. Or hand feed him.

How long have you had it? It could use a couple weeks to adjust. You can also feed it before you go to bed and lights out. Have a hiding spot and place food in front of it.

I fed the clown knife thawed out blood worms last night when all the lights were out. I think he ate them because he was the only fish which was active.

I just got him 2 days ago, really nice looking fish with a lot of spots even at only 4".

Mine is blind as a worm
his smell has gotten better but for now
try target feeding just after lights out

2 days. no worries, it's just figuring out new surroundings and settling in.

(If somebody just kidnapped you from your home, threw you in a bag, unheated, bounced you for 10 mins to an hour, tossed you in with people you don't know with some same stranger glaring at you all the time...Would you be looking for a yummy hamburger to eat?)

When it gets hungry, it'll eat. These are needy fish IMO, the NEED to feel comfortable first before they take over the tank, lol...
