I would never feed my FH a lizard but i dont see why it would hurt anything. I've fed my fish cricketts out of the yard so a cockroach prolly wouldnt be any different and fish do eat bugs in the wild. I dont really see a problem at all, except maybe the cruelty of feeding a lizard.

I'm not sure about a FHs ability to digest a small lizard, so I wouldn't want to feed mine that. Any bug should be fine so long as they haven't been exposed to any pesticides or other chemicals.

As far as cruelty, it's no more cruel to feed a lizard than it is a cockroach. Life is life.

There is no need to feed a FH any live foods though. You can give it all the nutrition it needs to thrive with quality pellets and frozen foods.

insects are 90% protien so i'd say it would add a good variety to the FH diet..

I have a beardie and two leo geckos so IMO it is cruel !!

I've used crickets before to get sick fish to eat when they wouldn't eat anything else. Fish seem to like anything that moves better than flake and pellets.

If you have a good/healthy supply of crickets or something like that it would probably be fine to feed to your fish 1-2 times a week. I wouldn't feed any bugs I found outside or in the house. You never know where they have been or what they have been eating. I would only do it if they were raised in a controlled environment and I knew they were healthy and what they'd been eating.

I wouldn't feed bugs on a regular basis just stick with a good pellet IMO and you won't have to worry about your fish getting sick from what it ate. If you want to give them treats try freeze dried krill or mysis shrimp.

a lizard once managed to crawl into my tank through the vent and my flowerhorn grabbed him and gobbled him up...he was quite fine though no probs at all
