I have 2 platties, 2 white clouds, a Paroon, a Pleco, and a Pictus Cat.. Between the 7 of them a cube of bloodworms will pretty much get finihsed, would get finished really fast if my cat would come out from hiding (just got him yesterday). I am just wondering what the rules are for feeding bloodworms. How often can I do it, and if a few worms are left, and i decide not to vaccum them, can it hurt my fish, or hurt them if they try to eat it when it is old?

Thanks,
Jeff

Your Picus and Pleco will likely enjoy the leftovers. I feed frozen blood worms to my cichlids 2 or 3 times a week to supplement a high quaility pellet food and various other frozen meals, some vegetable rich and some protein rich. I also give them live food occasionally but I'm not sure that's appropriate for your tank, though your catfish will likely gobble up an unsuspecting victim that may swim by his home. It seems best to always keep them guessing.

2 or 3 times a week. Ahh, I have been dropping one in per day, was thinking two a day was appropriate. Only reason I will keep doing once a day, is because my shark is really picky, he wont even go near flakes. And I am worried about my catfish getting hungry and torturing other fish. The clouds were put in for 'test fish' as they were cheap (to test my water, make sure my two $25 fish (paroon, pictus) would live) so if they get gobbled up, no big deal. I just dont want my pictus picking on my paroon.

Blood worms are a great food so I don't think you'll have any troubles feeding them more often, especially for your picky shark. From everything I've read, it is best to feed them a varied diet and be careful not to overfeed them. You'll know if your overfeeding when your tank gets filthy fast. I also fast my fish once a week. I'm sure you'll find your tank's happy medium.

Yea, well my shark ate alot yesterday, but kind of poked at the bloodworms today, didn't eat too much. My Pictus is still hiding as he isn't used to being awake in the day (nocturnal fish) and he cleans up the leftovers at night. But I think I will start feeding once every second day, and if either of the two get hungry, the clouds are small enough to get eaten by either of them.
