great video. Had to watch it a few times.

You big male looks identical to my big female. Nice and dark base with small defined and bright spots. love him. What size is he? is he wild caught? Peru?

columbian? I always thought that peru motoros were darker in base colour than columbians. My female is WC peru and looks just like your male. while my male is columbian and much lighter. My male is 9" and the female is 11". Showing the same chasing/biting signs as yours are right now. Is your male doing any damage to the female?(bite marks)

i know i hear ya, i always thought they were lighter, and the peru were darker... but TFD gets there motoros from peru...so they say and aquascape say they get theres from columbia.. here is a picture of the male and female from a couple of years back, the female is the darker one in the back(peru) the male is up close (columbia)

he caused a lot of damage on my female (peru) recently so i put him with the hybrids http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=288156

the male has not bred with the hybrids yet but has bred my female motoro in above link 5 times. the first time he did absolutly no damage, every other time it has gotten worse. they bred the 1st time with the male at like 9.5" and female at like 10.5"

Interesting. My female(the dark one) looked like your lighter male when she was about 7". now, 11 months later and 4" gained, she has turned to a darker colour. Bare bottom, and no background to influence colour either.

My male is also starting to take small pieces of flesh from the females disc, but they are very tiny amounts. and nothing too crazy like the pics you have. My female is only 2 inches wider, but much thicker, so i think she is able to fend off any big attacks the male will attempt.

Since my rays are of comparable size to yours when they started to breed, i think i can assume this is more of a matting thing rather than aggression.

I'll follow your threads and see what becomes of your male/hybrid female.
what cross is the hybrid anyway?
