Feeding tongs?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ive used tongs before to get food to slower fish while the faster guys were preoccupied on the other end of the tank. I dont have that problem now as once food hits the bottom my cichla refuse to eat it and the i overfeed to make sure my bottom feeders get a chance after the dats hit the food

I have to hand feed to make sure my MBU gets food cause the others are pretty aggressive feeders and it's easy to be distracted while feeding and that can turn out nasty.

are you just talking about ordinary tongs from the kitchen mate?

cheers

Just feed until it hits the bottom....your not feeding enough if the cichla eat it all.
They are pigs...give them their share. No tongs neccesary.

I use 10" feeding tongs. Only because I don't want to get my hands smelling like pellets, shrimp, or fish....lol

IMO...pellets should be their staple food. Use the others...such as mp and tilapia as a filler. BUt dont wean off pellets completely as they are far better for your fish. All the neccesary vitamins and minerals are in pellets. Yes....spendy. But thats how cichla are.
