Got one last weekend about 2 inch long. Tried mealworms, nothing, floating pellets, nothing. It took some feeder fish, and then I chucked another 3 feeder fish but it only took 1. The other 2 is still alive and it's been 2 days since the aro last ate. Remaining feeders too big? Or does filtration system affects its feeding? It's still quite jumpy.

At 2", they are very skiddish and shy...I'd say give him sometime. I had a 4-5" aro, took a lil over 2 month before she start swimming around the tank without pumping the glass, darting everywhere! Or she would just stay on the top left side of the tank next to the overflow. But now she's everywhere!

Another thing is I got a new canister filter for the gars, so now the aro tank (4ft, approx 90G) is running on 2 powerheads & 2 top filter boxes. Is that too excessive? Give and take each powerhead is doing about 1000 GPH.

To be honest, I think it is better to have a great filtration system and water flow! Just make sure your lil guy can handle the currant. It does not hurt to go big! 90gph is much depending on the size of the tank? But I'm pretty sure they're in a grow out tank. I have 150g grow out, running 2 power heads 800gph each and one return pump from the sump 900gph, its 4 feet high approx. It prob pumps around 450-500 gph. 1000gph does sound a bit high x2. what's the dimensions on the tank?

48*24*18 .. I shut off the valve and took out one of the powerhead as it doesn't seem too comfy with the strogn water. Might be changing to canister filter end of this month.

That's a nice grow out tank, but it'll only hold that aro for 8-10 months maybe? That baby gonna need a new home. Hope youre ready...is it eating yet?

at that size it can take blood or black worm, or tried to crush the pellets or tiny pellets would work. Chop up shrimp will work too. But at 2" is risky and required a lot of care and attention .

It took some shrimps but left most of them alone as they're at the bottom. They do a great job picking up its waste, still need to sort out the deadspot. Now it's taking feeder fish, one a day sometimes two. I'm setting a partition up for now as I have an incoming Golden Blue Base 3 incher this weekend. The yellow tail is about 4 inch. Need to declutter the back porch, we got a lot of cabinets lying around that's restricting space for another tank.
