I know its frowned upon and to date i have stayed away from feeders but i keep watching all these vids from arowana breeding farms and they say that they feed them feeders with some lab diet on the side because they grow much faster? obviously these farm are a reputable source of info

now i understand the risk of infection that can be brought on by feeders, but if it is true that they will grow faster can i just feed them my costa rica convict fry?

If you raised it yourself, you are aware of the conditions that you raise the fry in, and therefore it is a lot safer to feed to the arowana. A lot of people breed their own feeders, whether it be liverbearers or convicts.

Farms breed their own feeders. And they also feed their feeders special foods to pack nutrition in them right before they are fed to the arowanas. If you were to feed your fry to your aro, make sure they parasite free and you'd have to be feeding high quality food to the feeders first. Why would you do that when you can directly feed your aro that stuff as only 2% of all that nutrition gets transfered when the feeders eat the food and then 2% of that 2% is transfered when the aro eats the feeder. The only reason they would feed feeders in aro farms is becuase feeders can swim around so every aro would get there share, if they fed regular foods, all the arowanas near the edge of the pond would get the food and the remaining might just sink and get buried. And I dont think it would make the aro grow faster.

well, sure you can go ahead if you're 100% sure they dont have parasties. But just to let you know.
1. It wont make them grow faster, and I doubt you want that anyawys as that means earlier upgrade.
2. You're going to have to waste alot more high quality food just to make the feeders have even a bit of nutritional value. You'd be feeding the feeders more pellets than you would if you just directly fed your aro pellets, and your aro would not get the same amount of nutrients.
Its a waste of time IMO, but theres no harm in it if you're 100% sure its parasite free.

yea i agree feeders dont make them grow faster, just feed them nutrient directly like pellets, krill,MP,worms
