feeding

i have a clown knife and i have had him for around 4 months now i got him when he was around 3 in. he is now 10 full in. long
i started feeding him live food but reasently ive been feeding my catfish liver and my knife goes crazy when i put it in the tank and eats the liver with a passion.
i was wondering is this normal?
or let alone good for him?

liver is really fatty so try and limit his liver intake to once every few weeks. i would def try and feed him dead food...my clownknives refuse to eat nething dead now that they r too old.

thanks for the info i have all my fish eating liver and even flake. ill give it a try and see how that affects him. thank you

liver needs to be washed really we'll or it will polute your water it not to late yet to get it off live food try starving it for a week or two and try things like
krill
bloodworms its a little big for them but may still like them
earth worms
shrimp like the ones we eat just thaw and take the shell off and you can cut it to size
fish pieces or chunks try tilapia, carp, cod, or any other wight fish fish like salmon and tuna are pretty oilly but its still better then liver but if you do huge water changes all the time liver isn't that bad but the clown knife needs more then that in its diet and i'm sure the catfish does two they need a little veriety

he does like flake as well but that gets rather expensive. my water changes consist of weekly changes. around 30% change. if you have anymore ideas drop the line im willing to try anything. all my fish dont eat live anymore and i like that lol

I'd vote no on the liver. They are high in fat and full of other nutrients (so I bet they taste good) that wouldn't occur in such a high frequency in nature. I also think that he needs a meatier food than flake. I am not sure how a fish that large could manage to eat enough flake to make a difference without thrashing waste everywhere.

It can still be a treat if he really likes it.

thank you for all your info i started basicly a food check list and liver will be added every 3 weeks for treats. i put feeders in the tank once a week and flake every other day. if anyone has a better list please let me know cause all my fish are my children and i want them to be as healthy as possible. thank u once again. as an extra comment this has been an awsome site ive had so much info given to me for all my fish and i love the info given to me
