Feeder Fish
MFK Member
Got a 2-3 in. Jardini, Ive tried feeding him, the Omega pellets that the store said they fed them, Ive tried flakes, shrimp pellets, blood worms, and beef heart. He isn't going for any of it? My last aro started eating right away. I'm concerned. He keeps swimming against the glass of the tank, and I don't want him to harm his barbels. Any advice or words of wisdom. Any would be appreciated. Thanks a ton guys and gals!
:(

It seems like he doesn't even know the food is there, he is a three inch fish in 125 gallons so maybe he just isn't seeing it.

sick?

you're pretty much giving him all the foods which usually take time for them to get on. Try crickets or mealworms for now. Once it starts eating, introduce other foods.

Woo Hoo!! I was about to run to the store and get some crickets and thought Id throw just a few blood worms in there and try one more time. He swam through them then turned around and bam! He attacked everything I put in there. Put some more in there and him and my Flying Fox's didn't let any go to waste. Thanks guys, I will still be going to the store to get him a little more variety of foods.:headbang2:nilly::grinno:

gratz dude lol

You said you just got him,.. sometimes if it is a new fish in a new tank, it may take a few days before it starts eating. I have seen this happen before. see what happens. and good luck!

LOL congrats, i guess your jar was still aclimatizing to the tank. Try some pellets while you're at it. Dont feed crickets after they start eating pellets as they have no nutrition and aros sometimes gets addicted to them.

The tank is relatively big compared to the size of the fish. You might want to section off a part of that tank to help him find the food easier.

This big tank thing might actually be better. Some think that its becuase aros are lazy and know we're going to feeed so they get DE, so this oens going to have to search around.
